WIC - Women, Infants, Children

WIC is a nutrition education, health promotion and supplemental food program to assist women, infants and children who have nutritional needs.

Who can qualify?
          -Women/Teens who are pregnant
          -Infants
          -Women/Teens who are breastfeeding
          -Children up to age five
          -Women/Teens who have had a baby less than six months ago
(Income guidelines apply call to see if you qualify)

The benefits of WIC include:
          -Nutritional education and guidance for you and your children, no cost
          -Breastfeeding education and support at no cost
          -Nutritious foods to supplement your diet
          -Referrals for health care

WIC services are provided by appointment only

WIC services are provided the first, second and forth Monday and the third and fourth Tuesday of each month
Environmental Services

Environmental services are provided to protect the health of Andrew County residents through sanitation monitoring of food establishments and child care facitities and by protecting surface and groundwaters from improperly treated on-site sewage contamination.


Food Establishment Monitoring

- All food establishments in Andrew County are inspected by the Environmental Public Health Specialist to assure compliance with state food
codes
- Missouri 1999 Food Code (regulations for food service establishments)

ChildCare Facility Monitoring

- All child care facilities in Andrew County are inspected by the Environmental Public Health Specialist to assure compliance with state sanitation requirements

On-Site Sewage System Inspection and Permitting
- Applications for on-site sewage system installation permits are availible through this office and can be picked up during normal business hours or mailed upon request
- All septic system installations on three acres or less are required to have a permit  County Ordinance allows exemptions for lots greater than three acres

- Permit fee is $50.00
- System inspection and permitting is performed by the Environmental Public Health Specialist

Water Quality Testing

- Sample bottles are available for bacteriological testing of private drinking water supplies (wells, cisterns, etc.)
- Unofficial Nitrate tests can be performed in the office

Other Services

Birth and Death Certificates
          -Available for persons born in Missouri from 1920- present
          -Available for persons who died in Missouri from 1980- present
          -Birth Certificates are $15.00 each, Death Certs. $13.00 for 1st and
       $10.00 for each additional.
* All commercial properties are required to have a permit regardless of the lot size
* When an additional septic system (two or more) is installed on the same lot, the second (or greater) system must have a permit regardless of the lot size
* Lots divided into seven or more tracts may be under Missouri Department of Natural Resources regulations regarding on-site sewage disposal (contact this office for more information)
